Public schools in India still equate ‘reproducing the textbook’ with good schooling, but this places young learners at a disadvantage. The future demands that they think critically, code, and solve real life problems. 

To shift from rote learning to critical thinking, classrooms need a supportive ecosystem where educators are equipped with the tools, confidence, and space to try new approaches to learning, so they can guide learners toward independent thinking.

This is where MasterCoach (MCT) comes in. 

It equips overburdened educators with practical tools and strategies through a blended, self-paced program, creating opportunities for learners to build self-awareness, engage with questions of gender inclusiveness, explore career pathways, and develop future skills that are often missing from traditional classroom learning.

Our Approach

Most training programs tend to be top-down, resource-heavy, and irregular in their frequency, often ending after a workshop. MasterCoach Training (MCT) was built keeping in mind the reality of educators, combining in-person engagement, self-paced digital learning, and ongoing peer and field support. 

• MCT is offline-first and mobile-friendly, designed for schools with limited connectivity and minimal infrastructure.
• It blends self-paced microlearning with peer networks and light in-person mentoring, to reduce pressure on educators. 
• Built around a practice loop, MCT prompts educators to learn something, try it in class, reflect, and improve what they have picked up. 
• Gender inclusion, SEL, and future skills are woven into the program and not treated as add-ons.
• Methods to implement the module go beyond subjects, so they are practical and usable for educators regardless of their specialization. 

MCT content is available in English, Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, and Odia, with Gujarati translation currently in progress.

Impact

Started in 2023, MCT has been a companion to educators in government schools across X states in India, equipping them with the tools and confidence to teach differently.  

81% of educators feel more capable of teaching future skills, and 91% have grown comfortable using technology, often for the first time. More than 62% say they now actively invite questions and discussion from learners. Girls participate more in discussions, with 33% teachers ensuring gender-balanced engagement and 30% assigning leadership roles fairly. 

For Veerabhadrayya, a Science and Math teacher from Yarrenahalli village, MCT paved the way for him to navigate a tricky language situation that cropped up in his classroom: His students spoke Telugu; he taught primarily in Kannada. By creating peer-led group structures, setting up a small science lab, and using hands-on tools to make lessons accessible, his classroom has seen the difference.

In Gujarat’s Anand District, Harshit, an educator from Anklav Branch Kanya, introduced project-based learning and computational thinking from MCT in his classroom.

“Technology can simplify learning, and I witness this when my students work independently on projects by following instruction manuals. It builds an immersive experience.”

Learners have noticed the shift too. They describe their teachers as listening more, letting them try new things, and treating them more equally. There has been a 16% rise in critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration, and more students say they feel like they are “thriving”.

MCT has brought future skills into everyday classroom practice for students to ask questions, experiment, and solve problems connected to their real lives.

Structured pathways as opposed to one off trainings has helped teachers build confidence, develop new teaching practices, and see themselves as 21st-century educators.

By working closely with DIETs and state departments, MCT has continued to support governments to invest in teacher development, technology infrastructure, and career-linked learning — making these changes part of the public education system itself.
